WHERE ADULTS LEARN TO PLAY
Learn or Re-learn Your Instrument
The goal of New Horizons groups is to create an entry point to group music-making for adult beginners and a comfortable re-entry point for adults who played music in school and would like to resume after long years of building careers and raising children.
Winnipeg New Horizons Band is the only New Horizons Band in western Canada – and Winnipeg’s only adult learning band. It has been teaching adults to play since 2004. Many of our members started with little or no previous musical experience. The band is an opportunity to learn to play music in a group of like- minded, fun-loving individuals.
We learn, we play, we have fun!

JOIN US FOR A VISIT OR PRACTICE
We practice on Saturday mornings at the Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd., Winnipeg, MB.
Come join us to play or listen to a practice.
Beginner Band
Learn your instrument or learn to read music in a comfortable and supportive environment. As you increase your knowledge and skill you can move up to the transition group to fine-tune!
Junior Band
You can continue to improve your music reading skills while playing your chosen instrument in a nonjudgmental learning environment! When you feel ready you can join the intermediate group.
Intermediate Band
You will continue to improve your skills while learning new arrangements. Throughout the season these are often performed for family, fundraising events and other occasions.
Jazz Band
The NHB Jazz Band was introduced for the 2014/15 Season. We have performed a number of well received concerts to date. The NHB Jazz band is an exciting option for members in the junior or intermediate sections.
Sax Ensemble
The NHB Sax Ensemble was created in 2019. It welcomes saxophone players from the junior and intermediate bands, as well as NHB alumni. This is a great way to spend a Wednesday evening!
